The 4 Things Guys Do That We Over-Analyze
It’s no secret that dating can be a nightmare. Courting is a thing of the past, and hookup culture seems to keep growing. Don’t get me wrong, modern dating has its perks (#feminism), BUT, sometimes the lines can get really blurred. In an effort to figure out if a hookup is getting serious, girls will look for signals and dissect the little things. It’s easy to convince yourself that a guy is into you, when he might not be at all. Here are the most common mis-interpreted gestures that you have to stop analyzing.
HE LIKES YOUR PICS/VIEWS YOUR STORIES
I used to be a major culprit of this one. I would be crushing on a guy and got way too excited when they’d like a new pic or view my story. I convinced myself that liking my pics meant he had feelings for me. I took me a while to realize that some people are legitimately ALWAYS on Instagram and like everything they scroll past.
HE CUDDLES AFTER SEX
Guys have a bad reputation when it comes to hookup etiquette. It’s not shocking when he leaves quickly or doesn’t text you after shackin’ up. So, let’s just agree that the standards are set pretty low. That being said, just because a guy is respectful or affectionate after sex, does not mean that he’s in it for the long term. Some dudes just like to cuddle, okay?!
HE SHOWS PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION
Kissing and holding hands can make you feel like the star in a romantic comedy. It’s sometimes comforting to have a guy “claim” you, but that doesn’t mean he wants to be your boyfriend. Kind of like cuddling after sex, sometimes guys are just affectionate.
HE PERFORMS ROMANTIC GESTURES
Opening the door, pulling out your chair, and bringing you flowers are all very romantic gestures. You should definitely respect the politeness and thoughtfulness, but it doesn’t always mean he’s serious about you. Guys are always on their best behavior in the very beginning.
