7 TIPS FOR MEETING GUYS AT BARS
I’VE BEEN TOLD THAT I COULD NEVER MEET A GOOD GUY IN A BAR. I was made to believe that it’s only acceptable to meet someone at the supermarket or library. But after doing my own research (many Sunday Fundays), I can tell you that I’ve found this to be totally untrue! Here are some tips on how to meet guys while out at a bar:
THREE IS A CROWD. The smaller the group, the better. Going out with a group of more than 2-3 girls can make it harder to meet guys. Stick to a small group to avoid standing around in a tight circle. Guys are typically afraid to enter what looks like a coven-like seance.
EMPLOY “WIFED-UP” GIRLS AS YOUR WINGMEN. Close friends who are already in relationships can be the best wingmen. They’re typically more outgoing when talking to guys, because they’re not worried about rejection. Plus, they’re dying for you to meet someone to take on double dates with them!
BE A THIRD-WHEEL. Go out with your friends and their significant others! It may sound counterintuitive, but your friend’s boyfriends are probably even better wingmen than your friends are. Who is better to strike up a conversation with a guy than another guy? First they’re talking about the game and next thing you know, you’re being introduced!
TAKE A MODERN APPROACH! Approach guys you’re into, send over some shots, or wave them over. Stop waiting for guys to come up to you first. It can be so intimidating for guys to come over to talk to girls, so making the first move can be such a relief.
GO OUT TO BARS WHERE YOU’LL ACTUALLY MEET GUYS. When it comes to meeting guys, skip the girly brunches. Let’s just assume that meeting someone during bottomless mimosas while eating avocado toast is highly unlikely. Sports bars are going to be your best friend when it comes to man-hunting!
HAVE OPEN BODY LANGUAGE. It’s so important to exude confidence when you’re in social settings. So smile, don’t cross your arms, and stay off of your phone!
BE OPEN TO REJECTION! You’re not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. Putting yourself out there often means getting rejected. Come to terms with it and don’t forget to still have fun with your friends. Meeting people is only part of the fun, so don’t make it your main focus!
